Okay, so when was the las time that you read a book that you never wanted to put down? I haven't read one like that in a long time. I have read great books, don't get me wrong, but that doesn't mean I couldn't put them down. The Girl Who Would be King by Kelly Thompson was captivating from beginning to end. I can't think of anything really like it. First of all it is about girl superheroes which like never happens, and when it does they are just super slutty big boobed amazon women or something similar. A lot of the people who read this already know how I feel about girl superheroes haha. This is different though. This is almost a coming of age/superhero/awesomeness story.



The book is written from the point of view of the two main characters, Lola and Bonnie. Both characters have lost their parents and are slowly figuring out that they have these amazing powers and have to decide what to do with this greatness by themselves. As we all know "With great power comes with great responsibility" and these two young teenage girls have a lot to learn.

I absolutely love the story and how it is written. I love books that are written in a first person perspective, it feels like you get to know more about how the character develops and how they feel. It makes reading more exciting and relatable. I think the other reason was how beautifully this was written, but in an easy to read way. I might be making this sound sort of girly, but there is a lot of action between the two girls and I would say it is not just a book for girls by any means.

It is an easy quick read, especially if you let yourself get caught up in it all. Definitely give it a go if you have the time to read.
